How do we handle life the week after the party? What do we do when the celebration is over? Especially if, for some reason, we missed it. The power and majesty of Resurrection Sunday does not describe my usual experience. Most days just aren’t like that. If the weight of the world has replaced joyous hope in your life, then trust me: you are not alone. And, in the wake of the happiest event in the history of the world, three followers of Jesus share your story. But it won’t be theirs for long. And, if you are willing to accept the good news, it won’t be yours for long either.

When God says he will bless the entire world through one man. When all cry out for deliverance from Egypt, or Assyria, or Babylon…and God comes to their rescue. When outsiders beg for mercy, and dare to touch the face of God, and they find overwhelming grace and acceptance.
The gospel was preached to Abraham. Every section of Scripture—Law, Prophets, Psalms, Gospels, Letters, and Apocalypse—tells of God’s relentless rescue mission, reconciling the world in and through the Messiah.

Technology has given us some incredible things. You can now Facetime with Grandma and send mail electronically that will get to its destination in a matter of milliseconds rather than days. But no matter what devices we employ, or commodity we consume, some things you just can’t phone in. Bodies sharing life together is what presence truly means. And it’s why He came. The first lesson in a 3-part series entitled “Christmas Presence.”

We are maxed-out on credit cards, increasing our anxiety meds, and headed to marriage counseling because of money stress. All while making more money than most people in the world. And we don’t think we have a problem.

In the words of Tim Keller, money blindness leads to money sickness.

But then we have these stories. A widow who gives her last two pennies away. A Macedonian church that begs for an opportunity to give beyond their ability. A Savior who calls a man whose identity is wrapped up in money and things to sell his things and give away the money.

It challenges us to re-imagine what it means to be “blessed.” And it calls us to ask: after we give our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls to the Lord (in baptism and in service), what can we give next?

In this lesson, I argue that all of the Bible points to Jesus Christ. Find joy and passion in reading every text of Scripture through this lens: what can it tell me about the message about Christ?

Don’t you love a good dinner table? Table is where you tell stories; it’s where you share stories. And who you eat with tells me a lot about your story. The self-righteous and well-to-do tried to think up the worst thing they could say about Jesus. And here is what they came up with: “this man welcomes sinners and eats with them” (Luke 15:2). This is the fifth lesson in our series “The Good and Beautiful God.”

The Holy Spirit is a person. The Holy Spirit means presence. The Holy Spirit means power. And the Holy Spirit is a producer. In this series, we explore what it means to have access to this present strength. In this first lesson, we see that being plunged in God’s Spirit or receiving God’s Spirit means to be in the presence of God and for God’s presence to always be with us.

The text says that he grew “in favor with God.” But the story is not about Jesus (Luke 2:52)…its about Samuel (1 Sam 2:26). In this Berean Study Series from Heritage Christian University (Florence, AL), we consider the story of Samuel and look for parallels to the story of Jesus, as well as the story God wishes to tell through you.
